More about Khouria Destinie
I am an Orthodox Christian, married to my high school sweetheart, who is an Eastern Orthodox priest. Together we have 4 children, whom I homeschool. My title “Khouria” is an honorific title given to priest wives. It’s Arabic meaning “Priest wife”. My husband and I were both were raised Evangelical/Protestants, and we discovered the Eastern Orthodox Church while in college, having never even heard of it prior! Although our journey to the Church took several years, we converted and joined in 2012, and our lives were forever changed.
As someone who was not raised in the Orthodox Church, I liken the experience of conversion to becoming a child again; to sit at the Lord’s feet, and discover the fullness of the Christian faith. I’ve heard the Church described before as an ancient well, in which we can never reach the depths, and experiencially, that has how it has felt. The Church was established by Christ, handed to the Apostles, fiercely protected and defended by the Holy Fathers of the Church and the Saints/Martyrs, and carefully preserved and passed down to me, a lowly sinner. What an incredible gift! The Kingdom which Christ spoke about in the Scriptures is here now…. and His Kingdom shall have no end!
I use my background and experience in Elementary Education and years as a Sunday School teacher to help parents pass on their love for Christ and the Church to their children. As a busy mom with 4 little kids, I know we need SIMPLE and EASY ideas that are natural and sustainable. I have found that creating (or following) little “t” traditions surrounding the feast days has been the most joyful and fun way to live out the Liturgical cycle. That’s probably one thing you’ll learn about me - I LOVE to celebrate! If you follow me on Social Media, you’ll see that is a central theme in everything I share!
I don’t also don’t share these things as an “expert” in this field. Very far from it, Lord have mercy! I am learning about our faith right along side my children. I use my little space here on the web to share resources I find that may be useful to others interested in bringing the life of the Church into their homes! I also create resources and printables to help you simply live the Liturgical Life within the walls of your home. Living out the Ancient Faith in a modern world takes intention. We have many opportunities to live out our faith most genuinely with the ones that Christ has given to us, a reality I am very thankful for. We have many opportunities to serve, to love, to forgive, to “begin again.” It’s a humbling process indeed! I will happily walk along side you, sharing what I am learning and finding along the way, so together we can raise up the next generation of Christians who love God with all their hearts and minds!

St Anthony is a very well known Christian monk who lived in the 3rd Century, Egypt. Upon hearing the reading of Matthew 19:21, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasures in heaven; and come, follow Me." St. Anthony felt that passage was spoken directly to him. He sold everything he owned, gave the proceeds to the poor, and left the city behind to live as a monastic (hermit) in the desert. He is most known for his victory over many great temptations in the desert, his defense of Orthodoxy against Arianism, and he is known as the father of Monastics. His life was recorded by St Athanasius in his work Life of St Anthony
In this guide you’ll find simple and easy idea to celebrate St Anthony’s feast day in your household - including a feast day tradition and book recommendations, and additional information so you can share this story so together you can grow to love him even more!
