St John Chrysostom: Golden Mouth Milk Recipe

St John Chrysostom

Feast Day November 13th

Did you know that Chrysostom means "golden mouth"? Check out this super easy feast day tradition of making the "golden mouth milk" for the feast of St John Chrysostom! Easy and healthy and one that you can pull together with items you probably already have on hand! One of the most well-known Saints in the Orthodox Church, he was called the Golden Mouth because of his ability to speak clearly and eloquently in a way that touched the hearts of all who heard him. He has written over 700 homilies during his life time, and is responsible for writing the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom which we celebrate throughout the year each and every week.

In honor of him, you can make this special drink, and read some of his works (translated in nearly every language)! This drink is not only “golden” but it is very healthy and nutritious. This can be made with regular milk or fast-friendly using non-dairy milk. It was originally shared by Draw Near Designs in their Orthodox Children’s Calendar several years ago and it has become one of my favorite traditions on his feast day!
